Pretty good breakdown.
I do like that you said that that it is not bad by default to clickbait (with one notable example).
Beating a bit too much on the stereotypical "odd-one-out nice guy" mentality. I am not sure if it was supposed to make fun of said mindset or if you were serious. Regardless, it was unfunny.
Possibly one of the best fighting animations I've seen in a while. Fluent and fast animation, violence, humor and it remains a blast throughout the entire time.
I will, however, side with Atlas on the background-issue. They are really nice and all and form a contrast between background and characters, which is nice and important, but said contrast a bit too strong. Id suggest more stylized backgrounds for the future. The photomontages and the cartoony animation just don't add up too well.
But it's a minor complaint, honestly, because it was still a blast to watch and kept me entertained from start to finish.
That his closer to home than I am willing to admit.
got ya right in the feels! lol
Ok...where to start?
First up, it's not a masterpiece. Not at all. The idea is good and holds alot of potential yes. Games like "this is the only level" showed that. This game, however, is more nay than yay.
I do not have alot against the visuals, because they are clearly intendet to be minimalist and this style also works in favor of the game. Still, a BIT more animation would have been desirable.
The music choice is also ok.
Where it fails for me are the levels.
Mind you, not all were horrible. Some were pretty decent, but there is nothing extraordinary about these that stands out. Doppelganger, invisible walls and the like have been done ad infinitum. Those levels that seem to be somewhat interesting, like "not so fast", have been executed poorly, probably due to lack of testing in development or because they were not thought through enough.
So we have 3 ok levels and 2 broken ones until I decided that I had enough. Turns out that, by reading the comments of the other people, I've actualy seen everything and that it ends with "to be continued". I assume that this was some sort of "demo" for us, to get us excited for more. Unfortunately, it backfired. It's not a horrible game, but nothing extraordinary and nothing I would pick up again, let alone asking for more of it.
Ok, I'm speechless...
Not tributing, but downright ripping off the visual style of fez and combining it with ok gameplay (which is also very similar to fez) is really cheap.
I know I sound pretty rude here, but come on: TRY to make something original.
You get one star from me, ONE for the effort you put into it (creating animations, mechanics, planning the levels and so on takes some time and effort. I respect that). I wish I could give you more, because it is at least functional and fun (to some extend), but I do not support rip offs of popular titles.
What doesn't kill him makes him stronger.
It's also going to die.
Real good job, mate.
Thanks alot! :)
You're welcome. :P
I don't know why this makes me think on NieR.
I really don't.
I really dig what you did with the lighting and the flowing band(s?). Looks very alive.
Maybe make a fight scene next. Might be a good opportunity to practive motion and impact.
